Monotype Printmaking Methods

This two-session workshop will provide an introduction to “painterly” printmaking methods, known as monotypes. Through instruction using essential techniques, lots of visual examples, and hands-on demonstrations, participants will explore drawing with fluid media to create additive and subtractive prints, hand-rubbed transfers, ghost transfers, watercolour monotypes, chine collé and much more. Although this is an introductory experience, substantial knowledge and comfort with printmaking will be achieved. Sharing of results and individual consultation will further develop imagery and technical competence. Bring along idea sketches/drawings or other imagery sources. Non-toxic printmaking materials and methods will be stressed.

Handbuilt Mugs: Teen Pottery

In this hands-on pottery class, teens will explore the art of handbuilding, creating their own unique mugs from clay. In the first session, students will focus on constructing their mugs. Then, in the second session, students will learn the technique of sgraffito, carving intricate patterns into their mugs once they are dry. With an emphasis on creativity and personal expression, this class offers a fun and artistic way to develop skills in pottery while making functional, one-of-a-kind pieces.
