Newell Award
Barbara and King Newell established the Newell Award in 1997 with the purpose of helping our Centre survive during a time when the government was drastically reducing financial support for the Arts. King Newell thought that setting this example would encourage others to donate money so that the ICAC would continue to survive and thrive. At the same time, he would give public recognition to individuals who have helped make the Centre such a successful enterprise. He felt that such individuals are of inestimable value to our community. The ICAC continues this legacy by annually recognizing an individual who has had a positive impact on the Centre.
2024 Newell Award Winner: Theresa Woolley
Generous with her time and talents, Theresa Woolley has been an instrumental part of the Creative Arts Centre, contributing her time on many levels. Her volunteerism spans from being treasurer of both the Centre and the Oxford Quilters’ Guild (OQG) to assisting with Deck the Halls, the Quilt Show and Artisan Market. Her knowledge, skill and thoughtful perspective contribute to ensuring the Centre’s viability.
Theresa is always willing to volunteer where needed and helps to ensure that the Centre is run efficiently with the members’ needs in mind at all times. She takes the time to answer questions and attend to requests on behalf of the Centre in a professional and thoughtful manner. Theresa is a valuable source of information and the Board of Directors, OQG and Membership are lucky to have Theresa as an example of exemplary volunteerism. Congratulations, Theresa, and thank you for your dedicated volunteerism at the Centre!
