Monotype Printmaking Methods
This two-session workshop will provide an introduction to “painterly” printmaking methods, known as monotypes. Through instruction using essential techniques, lots of visual examples, and hands-on demonstrations, participants will explore drawing with fluid media to create additive and subtractive prints, hand-rubbed transfers, ghost transfers, watercolour monotypes, chine collé and much more. Although this is an introductory experience, substantial knowledge and comfort with printmaking will be achieved. Sharing of results and individual consultation will further develop imagery and technical competence. Bring along idea sketches/drawings or other imagery sources. Non-toxic printmaking materials and methods will be stressed.
