Intro to Modern Quilting

This 6-week course will introduce you to many aspects of quilting and give you a great foundation to build your skills as you embark on your quilting journey. No previous quilting experience is required. Basic knowledge of your sewing machine would be an asset.

The first week will be an introductory session where we will talk about the terminology you will need to understand as we navigate this adventure and things to accumulate for your project:
- fabric (solids, prints, scraps, pre-cuts etc.)
- fabric preparation (to wash or not to wash)
- cutting tools, rulers; how to use them
- basic sewing supplies

In the remaining 5 weeks, we will cover:
- various techniques in quilting while you create
modern blocks based on traditional piecing.
- assembling the blocks in various ways
- making the quilt “sandwich”
- stitching the layers together
- binding the edge

Your project will be approximately 48 X 72 when finished.

Please note, this class will run from March 5 - April 16, excluding the week of April 2.
